SCAMPIA - story of a dream
Animated short film written by Sergio Chianese

“SCAMPIA - story of a dream” is a fully musical animated short film, created in collaboration with a young screenwriter and two musicians. Set among the iconic Vele buildings of Scampia (Naples), it tells the story of a little girl who dreams of a different neighborhood: no longer grey and still, but vibrant, colorful, and full of play and wonder.
I was responsible for the entire illustration and animation work. The film was developed mainly in 2D, enriched with 3D elements used to add depth and movement to key scenes. The aim was to represent the transition from reality to dream in a smooth and evocative way, highlighting the contrast between concrete and imagination, between what is and what could be.
To make the experience more authentic, all environments were faithfully reconstructed based on real references from the neighborhood. The animations follow the shift from grey urban blocks to a vivid, dreamlike world, turning the protagonist’s fantasy into poetic and emotional images.
